Writing documents
A document is a page you write right in Libtee: a worksheet, a summary, a letter or a list of links. This page shows how to open a document, write it, set its language and save it.
Opening a document
You create a new document from inside a folder: in the folder editor, click Add and choose A new document or link. The document is saved in that folder, and Back to the folder appears at the top of the editor. To open an existing document, choose Edit in its menu in My storage, or on its page.

The editor has two parts: the content in the middle, and the document's settings at the side.

Writing and formatting
Write inside the frame. The toolbar above it has:
- Text formatting: bold, italic, underline, size, color, headings and alignment.
- Numbered and bulleted lists, indents and quotes.
- Tables, links and a dividing line.
- Pictures: upload one from your computer, or paste a screenshot straight into the text.
- Videos: by link, for example from YouTube, or as a file from your computer.
- Undo, redo and clear formatting.
After you upload a picture, Libtee asks whether to also save it as an item in My storage, so you can use it again. Text you paste from elsewhere comes in without its original formatting.

The kind of document
Above the editor, in the What kind of document list, choose what the document is: General, Free text, Worksheet, Summary, Links, Letter, Guidelines for the teacher or Guidelines for students. For example, a worksheet for practice in class, and free text for anything else. The kind doesn't change the editor or what you can write. It describes the document: it shows in the document's details, and you can filter by it when you search.
Language and writing direction
The editor writes in the direction of the document's language, not the interface's. A Hebrew document is written right to left even in an English interface, and an English document left to right in a Hebrew one. Choose the language in the Language field of the settings, and the editor turns at once. A new document starts in the language its settings start with, such as the default language in your preferences or the folder's language. Students see the document in its language's direction too.

The settings at the side
- Details: Your name for it (a private name others don't see), Description (seen by whoever sees the document) and Your notes.
- Subjects and tags: the language, subjects and tags that help people find the document.
- Who sees it: Only me, My account's members (in a school's or a group's account) or Everyone.
- More settings: the audience with its grades or ages, difficulty and duration.
In an existing document, a change in the settings is saved by itself after a few seconds. In a new document, it's saved with the document. Some accounts require a subject, a tag or a description of at least 10 characters. When something is missing, a message above the settings says what.

Saving
| Button | What happens |
|---|---|
| Save | The document is saved and stays open. A new document stays a draft, which only your account sees. |
| Save and finish | The document is saved and marked finished, so others can see it as Who sees it allows. Then you go to My items, or back to the folder. |
An empty document isn't saved. If you leave the page before saving a change, the browser asks first.
Tip: To give the document to students, by link or on paper, see giving documents and folders to students.
