Creating an exam with AI
Libtee's AI writes exam questions on a topic you describe. The questions go into the exam in the Exam studio, where you check and edit each one before you give the exam to students.
Where to start
Ways to open the AI window:
- Create with AI in the top bar: a new exam opens in the studio, with the AI window.
- On the home page, in the Which exam shall we create? box: describe the exam in a sentence, or pick one of the ideas, and press Create with AI. The window opens in the studio with your sentence in it.
- In My storage, under New: Create an exam with AI.
- Inside an exam: Create the exam with AI when the exam is empty, or Add a question with AI under the question list.

What you set in the window
The Create questions with AI window starts with the exam's own settings, and you can change every field:
| Field | What it sets |
|---|---|
| Subject / field | The exam's subjects show as tags. Remove a tag, or add a subject with Choose a subject…. The subjects you choose here are saved in the exam's settings too. |
| Topic or keywords | What the questions are about, for example "adding fractions". Optional when a subject is chosen; with no subject, write a topic. |
| Target audience, Difficulty | Who the questions are for, and how hard: 1 to 10 (1–3 easy, 4–7 medium, 8–10 advanced). |
| Question type, Number of questions | One type, and how many questions of it. The line under the field says how many you can ask for at a time. |
| Mix question types | A switch. When it's on, set under How many of each type how many you want of each one; the total shows below. |
| Quality vs. speed | Fast, Balanced (recommended) or Advanced – high quality. |
When everything is ready, press Create questions, or Enter in one of the fields. If something is missing, a message shows under the field and nothing is sent.

While the AI writes
A card such as "Creating 5 questions…" shows while the page waits. It usually takes a few moments. When the questions are ready, they're added at the end of the question list, and a message says how many were added and of which types.
- If fewer questions were created than you asked for, the message says why, for example that this month's free quota allowed only some of them.
- If it didn't work, a window titled The questions weren't created says why. Try again opens the AI window again with what you asked for.
Note: A request can't be stopped once it's sent. Even if you leave the page, the questions are added to the exam.
Checking and editing the result
The AI writes a draft, so go over every question before you give the exam to students:
- Click a question in the list. It opens in the editor.
- Check the text, the answers and the correct answer, and fix what's needed. Changes save on their own.
- Press Back to the exam.
A question that doesn't fit can be written again: in the question's menu (the three-dot button on its card) choose Write it again with AI, set the topic, difficulty and quality, and press Create a new one. A new question of the same type takes its place; the old one leaves the exam and stays in My storage. The same menu also moves a question up or down, or removes it from the exam.

Good to know
- The AI writes multiple choice, true or false, open and fill-in-the-blanks questions. Matching and grouped questions are written in the editor, and they don't have Write it again with AI.
- Your choices in the window (type, number, mix, difficulty and quality) are remembered in this browser for next time.
- Generation runs on your account's AI key, or, without one, on a monthly free quota. To add a key and see how much was used: AI settings.
