Classes: creating one and adding students

A class in Libtee is a group of students: you add them once, then give exams and materials to all of them at once. This page shows how to create a class, add its students and give each one a sign-in code.

A class or your page: what's the difference

Classes live inside Libtee, in My classes, and only you see them. There you manage the students and each one's personal code, give the class materials, send it messages and see its results.

Your page is the students' site. They open it in a browser, with no account, and sign in with their name and personal code. There they find what you gave their class. More in Your page.

The box "Your classroom and your page: what's the difference?" with two parts, the classroom and your page, and a line on where they meet.
At the top of My classes, a box explains the difference between your classroom and your page.

Creating a class

  1. In the side rail, click Classrooms. My classes opens.
  2. Click New class.
  3. Type the Class name (at least 2 characters). You can add a Description of up to 150 characters.
  4. Click Create the class. The dialog moves to the Students tab.

You choose a Cover picture once the class exists, with Change picture on the Details tab. Students see the picture and the description on your page too.

Adding students

You add students on the Students tab of the class's dialog. You can also get there from the class card's menu, with Manage students.

  • A student you already have, for example from another class: type part of their name or email in Add a student and pick them from the suggestions. They join the class at once. Anyone already in the class is marked In the class.
  • A new student: click New student, fill in Name to show and Sign-in code, and click Add to the class. Email, gender, picture and the rest are optional.

Add students one by one this way, then click Done.

The class's dialog on the Students tab: the Add a student search box, the New student button, and the class's students, each with a menu.
On the Students tab, find a student you already have or add a new one. The class's students are listed below.

Each student's sign-in code

Each student has their own Sign-in code: at least 4 characters, and not another student's code. With the name to show and this code, students sign in to your page, and they also type the code to enter an exam given to the class. Make one up creates a random 6-character code.

Tip: A random code from Make one up is harder to guess than 4 digits.

To hand the codes out, click Download the list (names and access codes) above the class's students. You get a text file with each student's name and code. How students use them: How students get in.

The class list

My classes has a card for each class: its picture, name, description, how many students it has and when it was created. Click the name to open the class's page. The card's menu has:

  • Class settings: the name, the description and the picture.
  • Manage students: the class's students. Each student's menu has Edit details, Take out of the class (this class only) and Delete the student (from all your classes; their code stops working).
  • Delete the class: its students are taken out of it and stay in your list of students. Digital exams you gave the class won't be open to it anymore.
